About 4.72 lakh students across the country will take the IIT-JEE 2010 to be held tomorrow for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
According to T S Natarajan, organising chairman, JEE, an average of 60,000-80,000 students would appear in each of the seven IIT zones in the country for 10,000 seats in 15 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad.
Counselling for general category students would be held online this year which would be a relied from crowded campuses during admission while for others like OBCs, the counseling would be held in the campuses to check authenticity of certificates and veracity of claims (regarding reservation benefits) Natarajan said.
He added that there would be two question papers, each of three hours duration (9am-12 noon and 2-5 pm). Both the papers would consist of three separate sections on chemistry, mathematics and physics.
Meanwhile, Kota the town with the reputation of a coaching hub for IIT-JEE and other competitive exams has been dropped from the list of examination centres for the JEE, AIEEE, and AIPMT. Authorities fear that the coaching wizards in the city would crack the examination code.
This also appears to be one of the several reasons why the town is not the obvious choice for the IIT, Rajasthan.
However, the coaching industry in the town has come out against the move and alleges that the JEE governing body is harassing aspirants for no reason.
