J & K political parties battling each other using modern era tools

All's not well in Jammu and Kashmir. Political parties are caught up in battle over a poster that features three generations of the Abdullah family. The National Conference has blamed the PDP for the smear campaign.

This poster of the film '3 Idiots' on Facebook, morphed to spoof the first family of politics in Jammu and Kashmir - the Abdullahs - has left the National Conference fuming. It features founder Sheikh Abdullah, his son and former Chief Minister of the sate Farooq Abdullah and grandson, sitting Chief Minister Omar, calling them the betrayers of Kashmir. The ruling party alleges Opposition leader and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti sent out an SMS promoting the poster.

"Poore riyasat main aag lagne ka khatra hai. Woh kehte hain kissi ne mujhe bhej diya, maine SMS forward kiya, (It may cause tension and riots throughout the state. She (Mehbooba) says somebody sent her the SMS and she just forwarded that.)," said AR Rather from Jammu and Kashmir. "We will sue her for defamation."

The poster sparked protests by National Conference party workers. Meanwhile PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has said she had nothing to do with the morphed poster.

"I have not created any SMS. But National Conference has stooped to such a level to involve its leader who is no more in this world," said PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.
