Six flights coming here from various Gulf cities were diverted to other airports this morning following heavy rains and poor visibility.
Heavy rains lashing the area since last night and the poor visibility caused by dark cloud cover made it risky for planes to land in the Karipur International Airport, airport sources said
While four of the flights were diverted to Ndeumbassery Airport near Kochi one flight each was directed to Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram.
The flights that landed in Nedumbassery were Dubai-Calicut, Doha-Calicut, Jeddah-Calicut and Muscat-Calicut. Sharja-Calicut was diverted to Chennai and Dubai-Calicut to Thiruvananthapuram.
