The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati's total assets are valued at around Rs. 88 crore. This has been revealed in the sworn affidavit filed by her at the time of filing her nomination for the Vidhan Parishad (Legislative Council) elections in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Ms. Mayawati's worth was around Rs. 52.27 crore in 2007 when she contested the Council byelection after becoming the Chief Minister.
In three years, her assets have grown by about Rs. 35 crore.
Ms. Mayawati filed her nomination before the Returning Officer and the Principal Secretary of the Vidhan Sabha, Pradeep Kumar Dubey in the Purshottam Das Tandon Hall of the State Legislature.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who is also the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, has Rs. 12.95 lakh in cash and bank deposits of Rs. 11.39 crore, and is also the owner of five sprawling commercial properties and bungalows in prime locations in New Delhi, Okhla and Lucknow.
According to the information given in the affidavit, the BSP chief owns two commercial properties in the posh Connaught Place area of the national capital. These are: No. 3, Block B, Connaught Place, measuring 3628.02 square feet, valued at Rs. 2.05 crore and Number B-34, Ist floor, Connaught Place, measuring 4535.02 sq.ft, valued at Rs. 1.27 crore. Her commercial property in Number 1,Community Centre, Okhla, Phase one, New Delhi measures 34,112.26 sq. ft and is valued at Rs. 15.50 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has a house in New Delhi whose address has been given as Number 23,24, SP Marg, New Delhi and measures 3987.72 square metre, valued at Rs. 54.8 crore. Ms. Mayawati's bungalow in Lucknow is situated on Number 3, Nehru Road in the Cantonment area and measures 1.08 acres. It is valued at Rs. 1 crore, 79 lakh, 92 thousands.
Ms. Mayawati has 1034. 260 grams gold and diamonds of 380.17 carats, which are valued at Rs. 86.8 lakh. She also has a 18.500 kilogram silver dinner set, which is valued at Rs. 4.44 lakh. The Chief Minister also possesses murals worth Rs. 15 lakh.
She does not possess agricultural and non-agricultural land and has no vehicle. Ms. Mayawati has also not opted for a LIC policy; nor does she possess any other financial instrument such as National Savings Scheme or postal savings.
A graduate from Kalindi College, Delhi University, Ms. Mayawati did her B.Ed. in 1976 from the Meerut University and LL.B from the Delhi University in 1983.
