BJP Andhra Pradesh unit on Sunday demanded that the members of justice Srikrishna Committee to visit villages in Telangana districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, the state party chief and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said the people of Telangana regions have been demanding for a separate state and they support the BJP, which is the only party openly supporting the people's wish.
Just visiting Hyderabad and having consultations will not serve any purpose and members of the Srikrishna panel should visit the villages in the region, he said.
A five member committee was constituted by the UPA government to examine demand for a separate state of Telangana and as well as the demand of unified Andhra Pradesh.
The committee scheduled to visit in the first week to hold consultations with various parties and organisations on the issue.
Dattatreya said there is a need of a political solutions for the burning issue and that Telangana could not be achieved by the Srikrishna committee.
Referring to price rise of essential commodities, the BJP leader said the party would launch a signature campaign against the Centre and state governments, which failed to curb the rising of food grains prices.
